How the Free Walk Works

There is no booking fee and nothing to pay upfront. Tell us your day, and a guide meets you at your hotel in the afternoon. At the end, you give the guide a tip of whatever you feel the tour was worth.

The only costs are your own entry tickets, bought directly from the Archaeological Survey of India, and the tuk-tuk rides, which you pay the driver directly. Your guide helps with both and makes sure the fare is fair.

Why Join This Walk

See the Taj on a Friday

The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, but Mehtab Bagh is open and faces it across the river.

The Quiet Side of Agra

Both sights are on the far bank of the Yamuna, calmer and far less crowded.

Golden-Hour Photos

Timed so you reach Mehtab Bagh as the light turns warm on the marble.

Licensed Local Guide

A government-certified guide from Agra who knows the stories behind both places.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Joining costs nothing. At the end you tip the guide whatever you think the tour was worth. You only pay for your own entry tickets and tuk-tuk rides.

Baby Taj is the popular name for Itmad-ud-Daulah, the white marble tomb that Empress Nur Jahan built in the 1620s for her father. Its stone inlay work came before the Taj Mahal and is often called its first draft.

For foreign visitors, Itmad-ud-Daulah costs ₹310 (₹300 on Fridays) and Mehtab Bagh ₹300. For Indian visitors they are ₹30 (₹25 on Fridays) and ₹25. Children under 15 enter free.

The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, but Mehtab Bagh is open. From its gardens you see the Taj Mahal across the river, so this walk is the best way to see it on a Friday.

About two and a half hours before sunset, so that you reach Mehtab Bagh for the golden light. Sunset in Agra is roughly between 5:15 PM in winter and 7:15 PM in summer; we send you the exact start time when you book.

By tuk-tuk (auto-rickshaw), from your hotel across the Yamuna to Baby Taj, on to Mehtab Bagh and back. You pay the driver directly; your guide arranges a fair fare.

No. This is a free, tip-based walk by tuk-tuk that adds Baby Taj. If you want a private car and only Mehtab Bagh, book the Taj Mahal Sunset and Mehtab Bagh Experience instead.
